About a year ago, one of our favorite filmmakers brought us a project called The Musical.
She found great partners with the producers of Didi (which won Sundance and sold to Focus Features in a competitive sale) and wrapped the movie this summer.
But they needed our help rounding out the financing. We went through the traditional channels we've gone down a million times (legacy buyers, banks, debt financiers...) and found the system more broken than ever.
So we're trying something new.
$MOVIE is the cornerstone of our onchain studio, powering new film productions and creating more ways for creators and fans to participate.
Activity across our ecosystem, like creator fees, helps fuel new creative projects and productions.
Momentum from The Musical helps grow our community and expand opportunities for future projects.

Traditional financing methods like studio investment, bank loans, and private equity are highly competitive and often inaccessible to filmmakers without established industry connections or a proven track record.
Film financing often mixes debt, equity, and soft money, with financing on spec the riskiest path. Filmmakers must navigate opaque revenue models where multiple stakeholders take their share.
Film & Video is #4 by total dollars pledged on Kickstarter ($606.6M) yet it has the most unsuccessfully funded campaigns (55,548).
Funding based on talent, merit of ideas, and community conviction. Knocking down walls and empowering filmmakers whether its their first or fortieth film.
A streamlined approach where every project launch is clear, direct, and designed to move fast. We wait for no one
Creating an ecosystem that not only funds films but supports filmmakers. Sequel's team of creatives and execs is across each project, ensuring films are made on time, on budget, and on point.
